Cultivate + co. is a specialist landscape architecture practice based in the Perth, Western Australia, offering consultancy and design solutions focused on urban rewilding, rural regeneration + community collaboration.

We create landscapes that are not only resilient + regenerative, but also enriching + purposeful for the people who inhabit them. We seek to create landscapes that deliver positive environmental outcomes, with a focus on biodiversity, local food production, waste minimisation, soil health and sustainable water design solutions.

At Cultivate + co. we believe every landscape has its own story, opportunities and challenges. Our approach is personal and considered, working closely with each client to create landscapes that are healthy, biodiverse, resilient + intelligent. Whether you are creating a garden around a new home, managing a rural property, developing a community project or looking for specialist native planting knowledge, we tailor our services to suit your needs.

From an initial consultation through to detailed design and construction support, you’ll work directly with the project lead throughout the process. We value in person conversations, thoughtful design and the opportunity to refine ideas together, creating landscapes with character, purpose and soul. For rural projects where distance or budget may make regular site visits impractical, we use online meetings, email and video conferencing to maintain clear and consistent communication throughout the design process.

We pride ourselves on hand-drawn sketches, perspectives and plans that bring ideas to life and create a sense of character within the design process.

Urban Property Owners

Cultivate + co. works with residential property owners across the Perth metro region to create thoughtful, resilient landscapes that respond to the way you live and the unique conditions of your site. 

Your garden should feel like a natural extension of your home and the way you live.

We begin with a comprehensive design workshop, working together to establish an initial concept for your property. From there, we can develop a landscape concept plan, detailed design and planting plan, depending on the level of support you require. We can also assist with sourcing reputable landscape contractors and provide support throughout the construction process, helping your design come to life as intended.

Our specialist advice can include native + climate-responsive planting, privacy screening, poolside + shade-tolerant planting, micro forests and increasing canopy cover, verge rewilding, + firewise planting design.

If you haven’t yet started building, we can work alongside your architect or builder from the early stages of your project. Early landscape input can help ensure the house is positioned to make the most of the site, while creating strong connections between indoor and outdoor living areas.

Rural Property Owners

For rural properties, we take a whole-of-landscape approach, considering how the home, productive landscapes, vegetation and surrounding environment can work together to create a resilient + connected place.

Rural properties bring opportunities for productive gardens, revegetation, biodiversity + improved resilience, alongside developing robust design solutions to manage and mitigate the practical challenges of water, weeds, fire and changing climatic conditions.

Cultivate + co. can work with rural property owners from the early stages of site planning, helping to develop a landscape strategy that considers both the immediate needs of your property and its long-term resilience. We begin with a comprehensive site design workshop, developing an initial concept before progressing to landscape concept plans, detailed design and planting plans as required.

We work throughout the greater Perth metropolitan region, Perth Hills, Wheatbelt and South West of Western Australia.

Commercial + Development

Cultivate + co. has experience working across a range of commercial and public-sector projects, including education, healthcare, parks and playgrounds.

We can assist with landscape concept plans and landscape documentation required to support planning and development applications, while also providing specialist knowledge around native planting and landscape resilience.

Robyn Renton’s previous professional experience has included working with businesses + government agencies including Water Corporation, DevelopmentWA (formerly LandCorp), local authorities (City of Kwinana, City of Albany), GeoCatch and public schools in conjunction with the Department of Education.

We enjoy working as part of a broader design team and collaborating with architects, planners, developers and other consultants from the early planning stages of a project.

Early collaboration allows landscape, architecture, site planning and infrastructure to be considered together, helping clients make informed decisions from the outset. We believe this integrated approach creates stronger design outcomes for the people who use and experience these spaces, with thoughtful connections between buildings and their surroundings, seamless indoor–outdoor spaces and landscapes that feel genuinely connected to their place.

Specialist Native Planting Expertise

Cultivate + co. is also available to work alongside other landscape architects, designers and industry professionals where specialist native plant knowledge is required.

We can provide support with planting design for larger projects and contribute as a specialist sub consultant offering native planting knowledge to a broader design team. Whether you need specialist input for a single planting area or ongoing support throughout a larger project, we can tailor our involvement to suit your needs.

We understand that every practice has its own systems and workflows, and are happy to work collaboratively within existing project teams and design programs.Regular meetings, either online or in person, help ensure clear communication and a collaborative approach from concept through to completion.

Not-for-Profit + Community Groups

Cultivate + co. is passionate about helping community groups + not-for-profit organisations turn landscape ideas into meaningful places. We understand that community projects often need to work within limited budgets and funding requirements. We can assist groups to develop a clear landscape vision and, where appropriate, provide support with grant applications and project planning.

We can assist with community garden design, revegetation projects, community workshops + presentations, as well as planting days + specialist native planting advice.

We enjoy working alongside communities to create landscapes that are not only beautiful, but useful, inclusive and connected to the people and place around them.
